Edina and Grand Rapids hit the ice on Friday night in the MSHSL Class AA Tournament, Second Semifinal. They will battle to see who will advance to the state championship game on Saturday night against the winner of the first semifinal of Chanhassen and Creti-Derham Hall. Edina comes into the semifinal on a four-game winning streak and fresh off an easy 6-2 win over Elk River/Zimmerman in the quarterfinals. The Hornets now get another shot at Grand Rapids, a team they beat 6-2 back on December 14th. The Hornets used a big first period in that game to lead them to the win. They got goals by Bobby Cowan, Freddie Schneider and Barret Dexheimer to take a 3-0 lead. They would score the first two goals in the second to put the game away.

The Thunderhwks are going to have their hands full with the Hornets as they try and avenge that loss and make the state championship game.
They almost didn't make the semifinals, but Nathan Garski scored with 1.6 seconds left to give them a 2-1 win over White Bear Lake. They had given up the tying goal with 1:34 left, but Garski became the hero and sent the Thunderhawks to the semifinal.
