Merrimack (20-11) swept the Northeast Conference regular-season and tournament titles last season but was denied the automatic NCAA tournament bid that usually comes with it because it was still in its transition from Division II. Now postseason eligible, the Warriors, the No. 2 seed in the NEC tournament this year, host fourth-seeded Le Moyne (15-16) on Saturday afternoon at Lawler Arena in North Andover, Massachusetts, in a tournament semifinal. Merrimack shared the regular-season title this season with Central Connecticut State, its third NEC championship since joining the league in 2019-20. The Dolphins are in their first season of transitioning from Division I.

The Warriors survived a scare from No. 8 seed LIU on Wednesday night, taking a 72-66 quarterfinal victory after the visiting Sharks got to within one with a minute to go. Jordan Derkack finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds and Adam "Budd" Clark added 18 points. Derkack averages 17.8 points and 6.1 boards while Clark puts up 13.2 points per game.
Le Moyne eliminated last year's NCAA tournament giant killer on Wednesday night, blasting FDU 82-61. Luke Sutherland scored 22 points and Darrick Jones Jr. tossed in 17. Kaiyen Cleary averages 15.4 points and 6.6 rebounds and Sutherland posts 15.3 points per game.
Merrimack has won the last four meetings with the Dolphins, including a regular-season sweep this season. After taking a 66-62 road win on Jan. 13, the Warriors put up a 66-50 win at home on Feb. 10.
