The Cardinal comes into Friday's Pac-12 opener with an overall record of 19-5 so far. On Wednesday, the team played a pair of games against Sacramento State, splitting the results as the Hornets took the first game in a narrow 3-2 victory and the Cardinal taking the second in a big 6-0 shutout. Regan Krause pitched a complete game, striking out 10 batters in the process. The Cardinal capitalized on several errors by the Hornets to bring runs home, but the offense was led by Emily Jones who nailed a three run home run in the third to put the game out of reach for Sacramento State.

Last year's series between these two teams resulted in a 2-1 series win for Stanford as the Cardinal claimed wins in games one and three.
