This year's Spring Training for Los Angeles is one of the most exciting the team has had in years with the addition of Shohei Ohtani and Japanese star Yoshinobu Yamamoto joining the team. Those two join a team that won 100 games last season and fell just short of another run to the World Series. With those additions to the roster Los Angeles is expecting to be one of the best teams in the National League again.

So far in Spring Training Ohtani has appeared in five games going 7-15 from the plate. He has been impressive with one homerun, a triple, four runs scored and six runs batted in so far in preseason play. He is not pitching this season, focusing all of his attention and skill to hitting.

Last season Ohtani swung one of the best bats in baseball. He finished the season hitting .304 with 44 home runs and 95 runs batted in for a Los Angeles Angels team that underperformed despite the talent on the roster. Now he slides into the rotation for the other Los Angeles team giving them one of the most dangerous offenses in team history.

For Cincinnati, they are looking to build on the momentum from last season where they went 82-80, just missing out on the playoffs. While it is just Spring Training, this is a potential preview of the National League playoffs this season.
