The Marlins come into Sunday's game following an 8-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals to improve to 7-9 on the spring training season. In the win, the Marlins took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the second, but fell behind 4-3 by the end of the fourth inning. The Marlins used another three run inning to take, and maintain, the lead for the rest of the game, scoring one more run in each the sixth and ninth innings. to secure the win. Miami finished with 15 hits in the game and had home runs by Jon Berti and Jake Deleo. Berti hit a three-run homer in the top of the second inning while Deleo hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth to cap off the victory. Earning the win from the mound was Ryan Weathers who went 4.1 innings, giving up seven hits and four earned runs while striking out four.
This is the second meeting between the two teams this spring training. The previous meeting was a 6-6 tie.
