The Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays return to play after Monday off-days when they meet on Tuesday afternoon at TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Florida

The Baltimore Orioles (18-5) and Toronto Blue Jays (11-11) got a break from the spring grind on Monday and will resume the remainder of their Grapefruit League schedules on Tuesday afternoon when they meet at TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Florida, the spring home of the Jays. The Orioles and Toronto were both playoff teams last season, with the Blue Jays swept out of the American League Wild Card Series by the Minnesota Twins while Baltimore was swept by the Texas Rangers in the ALDS after a bye. It was a particularly disappointing ending for the Orioles, who finished with the best record in the AL and their first 100-win season since 1980.

Outfielder Kyle Stowers made the big-league roster coming out of spring training last season before playing in just 14 games and going 2-for-30. That was followed by a couple of injuries while in the minors. But he is making a bid to go north with the Orioles again as he is 11-for-37 with seven homers and 13 RBI, both team highs, after a three-homer game on Sunday.

Joey Votto, making a late bid to make the Toronto roster after signing a minor-league deal on March 9, made his debut on Sunday by hitting the first pitch he saw out of the park. He was later removed from the game as a precaution after rolling his ankle in the dugout. Votto, 40, is a Toronto native who hit 356 home runs in 17 seasons with the Cincinnati Reds. But in 156 games over the last two seasons, he hit .204/.317/.394.

Right-hander Chris Bassitt starts Tuesday for the Blue Jays. In 14.2 innings this spring, Bassitt has a 3.07 ERA and 0.82 WHIP with 14 strikeouts. Baltimore gives the ball to left-hander Cole Irvin, who has surrendered six runs on 10 hits in 8.2 innings in Florida.

Regional restrictions may apply.
