Before the main card and the main event take over the octagon at UFC 298 there is a slate of four early preliminary and three preliminary matches. On the early preliminary card there are two welterweight matches featuring Josh Quinlan (6-1-0) vs. Danny Barlow (7-0-0) and Oban Elliott (9-2-0) vs. Val Woodburn (7-1-0). Also, Zhang Mingyang (16-6-0) vs. Brendson Ribeiro (15-5-0) in light heavyweight and Andrea Lee (13-8-0) vs. Miranda Maverick (14-5-0) in women's flyweight. Then the action shifts to the preliminary card showcasing Amanda Lemos (13-3-1) vs. Mackenzie Dern (13-4-0) in women's strawweight, Marcos Rogerio de Lima (20-10-1) vs. Junior Tafa (5-1-0) in heavyweight and Rinya Nakamura (8-0-0) vs. Carlos Vera (11-3-0) in bantamweight before the main card takes over.

All of those matches, seven in six weight classes, are there to whet the palate for the main card and main event of UFC 298 today from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
When the main card starts there are five total matches after the middleweight bout between Anthony Hernandez and Ikram Aliskerov was canceled. The remaining matches showcase four different weight classes in middleweight (two bouts), welterweight, bantamweight and the main event in featherweight.
In that main event Alexander Volkanovski (26-3-0) takes on Ilia Topuria (14-0-0) to try and give the fighter his first loss of his career. Volkanovski has the experience, age, height and reach advantage, but this will be one of the toughest fights of his career.
