The National Hot Rod Association gets the 2024 season started with the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals from Gainesville Raceway. All of the top drivers in the NHRA Drag Racing series are in a position to get the season off to a strong start with the first two rounds here this morning. One name in the field this weekend that will be familiar to fans of motorsports is Tony Stewart who made his NHRA debut. Stewart is a legend in motorsports winning at the highest levels in NASCAR, winning the NASCAR Cup Series on three different occasions. Now he brings his spotlight over to the NHRA Drag Racing series to see if he can climb to the top here as well.

Despite some car trouble in his qualifying run, Stewart was able to finish 11th in Top Fuel in his first official lap. He looks to build on that momentum to start the morning here in the first two rounds of the Gatornationals.
The other top drivers in the Top Fuel classification feature Steve Torrence, Mike Salinas, Doug Kalitta, Brittany Force and Justin Ashley along with motorsport legend Tony Schumacher. All of those drivers will look to get off to a strong start this season in the first event today.
Also in competition today are drivers in Funny Car, Pro Stock and every other classification in drag racing. Last season this event was won by Salinas (Top Fuel), Matt Hagan (Funny Car), Troy Coughlin Jr. (Pro Stock) and Gaige Herrera (Pro Stock Motorcycle) to set the tone for the season.
