How to Watch Atalanta vs. Sporting CP: Stream Europa League Live, TV Channel

Sporting CP will look to capitalize on Atalanta's waning form of late to advance in the Europa League on Thursday.

Form has hit the rails for Atalanta at exactly the wrong time as the Serie A side hosts Sporting CP on Thursday hoping to book a place in the last eight of this season’s Europa League. Despite having not met once prior to this season, the midweek clash in Bergamo will now be the fourth time they’ve clashed this term alone, with the teams all square following last week’s first leg in Lisbon. That means a win for either side inside the 90 minutes will be enough to advance to the quarterfinals, while a draw would mean extra-time and penalties should they be required.

After beating Sporting in Lisbon to top their group earlier in the European calendar, Atalanta wasn’t able to repeat the feat last week when the sides got their round-of-16 clash underway.

Instead, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side settled for a 1-1 draw in the away leg thanks to Gianluca Scamacca’s intervention to cancel out Paulinho’s early opener.

However, Atalanta will hope to rediscover some winning form if it’s to simplify its route to the quarters, having now gone five games without a victory across all competitions.

It’s worth bearing in mind that run includes a gauntlet of Serie A fixtures against the likes of Inter Milan, AC Milan and Bologna before most recently drawing 2-2 away to Juventus.

Teun Koopmeiners was in sterling form against the Bianconeri and scored both La Dea’s goals to almost certainly drive transfer interest in his services ahead of the summer.

Meanwhile, Sporting returned to victory lane over the weekend with a 3-0 win over Arouca, though the scoreline perhaps flattered the visitor considering the score read 1-0 at the 90-minute mark.

Swede striker Viktor Gyokeres has scored 18 goals and recorded five assists across his last 19 club appearances and is the main threat Atalanta needs to pacify to boost its chances at the Gewiss Stadium.
