Appetite suppressants are very popular weight loss supplements, but most people either love them or hate them. A lot of the criticism I have personally seen comes from a good place, trying to combat toxic diet culture and unrealistic weight loss expectations. However, not all supplements are created equal, and some are made with very clean, all-natural formulas that can be a great support to your weight loss program.
When you think of appetite suppressants, also think of fat burners because most of these products from reputable brands are the same. This article is a Swolverine Therm review, which is the type of product I’m talking about. The formula is designed to suppress your appetite and boost your metabolism to maximize weight loss, but Swolverine is clear that this will only work if you pair it with a balanced diet and regular exercise.
In this article, I’ll try to cover everything you need to know about Swolverine Therm. Particularly, I’ll do a deep dive on all of the ingredients in the formula—what Swolverine claims they do, what the research says and how my experience stacks up to both. I also have a general overview below if you only want the highlights, plus a few pros and cons to help you as you’re deciding whether to take this supplement or not. Let’s dive in.

Benefits of Swolverine Therm
Swolverine Therm claims
According to Swolverine, Therm helps your weight loss in three ways: increased energy, boosted metabolism and more calories burned at rest. Each ingredient is also “clinically proven,” which means there is specific science to back up the claims associated with each ingredient.
The key to Therm’s effectiveness is thermogenesis, which is the body’s process of converting energy. According to Swolverine, Therm’s ingredients are a natural way to induce thermogenesis. This results in greater energy production, which raises your body’s internal temperature and burns more fat.
Swolverine suggests you take one to two pills per day with meals, but best results come from taking one pill in the early afternoon.
My experience using Swolverine Therm
I don’t usually use appetite suppressants because I take a medication that has appetite suppression as a side effect, but for this Therm review, I took five doses to see how I felt. I took two doses once, but otherwise stuck with one per day in the early afternoon, which Swolverine says delivers best results. Here’s my experience:
I had high energy. I’m not very caffeine sensitive which has led me to over consume it in the past. I say that because I did feel very focused and energetic about 10 minutes after taking Therm, and that happened every time. One possible reason for this is that I’ve been on a bit of a caffeine cleanse before trying Therm, and that may have made me more sensitive. Another explanation is that Therm works and guarana extract is a more effective dose of caffeine than other sources like coffee.
I got the internal “heat” feeling. You know that feeling you get when you eat really spicy food? Your face flushes, you feel like you’re about to start sweating and you don’t really want to eat anything. That’s thermogenesis, and I felt it every time I took Therm. I recommend talking to your doctor before you take this supplement because that feeling can be very unsettling, and the line between thermogenesis and negative reaction could possibly be pretty thin.
I did not lose weight. Full disclosure, I’m not trying to lose weight at all, so this one tracks. I also only took five doses which isn’t enough to make a declarative statement about Therm’s effectiveness. My diet is focused on maintaining weight instead of losing it. The reason I included this is because I did expect to lose some water weight, which leads me to the next observation.
I kept forgetting to drink water. I knew I wasn’t going to be hungry, but I honestly didn’t expect my thirst to be affected too. About three hours or so after taking Therm, I was really thirsty. It was like clockwork, and after the third dose or so I realized I hadn’t been touching my water. I suggest setting a timer to remind you to drink water to avoid dehydration.
Those were the highlights of my experience. Other than the above, I didn’t really notice I was taking a supplement. I didn’t experience jitters, an upset stomach or any of the other potential negative side effects I expected. I’ve said a few times that I took only five doses, so I’m not comfortable telling you that Therm definitively works or doesn’t work. But I will say my experience lines up with Swolverine’s claims of boosted metabolism and higher energy, which leads me to believe the weight loss could come with more time and a different diet.
Ingredients
This is the section where I’ll break down each ingredient in detail. I’ll be noting how much of each ingredient is included in Therm, and how that dose compares to the effective doses, according to the research. Some of these ingredients are whole food extracts and don’t have a known effective dose, but I'll note that too.
I may come across as doubtful about traditional medicine claims, but I actually really value natural foods, roots, leaves and other ingredients that have been used by humans for long periods of time. However, I also want to be clear for you about where we are with current research, and what claims are supported, proven or disproven.
Vitamin B6
B6 is also known as pyridoxine hydrochloride, and studies show that supplementing with 80 milligrams of B6 per day can significantly reduce BMI. Swolverine has 25 milligrams per dose, which is lower than what was shown to be effective in the study, but Therm has more than just B6, whereas those in the study took only B6.
Iodine
Iodine is a trace mineral that helps regulate hormone creation and release in your thyroid, specifically hormones that are key players in your metabolism. Swolverine Therm has 150 milligrams of iodine sourced from kelp. There is no “effective dose” of iodine, but this formula has 100 percent of your recommended daily value (DV).
Chromium
Chromium is another trace mineral that plays a role in your body’s carbohydrate metabolism and insulin sensitivity, but studies suggest it can also have a small but positive impact on your ability to retain lean muscle and lose fat during a weight loss program. Therm has 100 micrograms of chromium, which is 286 percent of your DV.
Guarana
I don’t know if I could say guarana is the key ingredient in Therm, but I’m pretty sure its responsible for most of the positive aspects I felt. Therm has 300 milligrams of guarana, which equates to 100 milligrams of concentrated, naturally sourced caffeine. Like we already said, guarana is a better stimulant than other sources of caffeine, and can lead to higher energy boosts that last longer.
Cocoa extract
Cocoa extract has been used in traditional medicine for a number of things. The research is a little lacking, but I found a couple of studies that suggested cocoa extract can fight obesity by enhancing thermogenesis. Those studies were done on animals, though, so take them with a grain of salt. Therm has 100 milligrams of cocoa extract.
Yerba mate
Yerba mate is another ingredient that's popular in traditional medicine. Research says yerba matte can help suppress your appetite, curb craving and balance your mood. The effective dose depends on the person, but Swolverine Therm has 50 milligrams per dose.
Green tea leaf
Green tea is one of the most studied weight loss supplements, and it's established that green tea can boost your metabolism and give you plenty of antioxidants that may help you lose weight. Therm has 50 milligrams of green tea leaf extract. Like most whole food, leaf or root extracts, the effective dose depends on the person.
Garcinia cambogia
Garcinia cambogia is a fruit that has significant anti-inflammatory and appetite suppressing properties. It can also help regulate your serotonin levels, which is responsible for healthy brain function and balancing your mood. Therm has 125 milligrams of garcinia cambogia extract.
Chitosan
Chitosan is an element that comes from the shells of ocean shellfish. It's said to regulate blood pressure and cholesterol, but research is conflicted on whether it's actually effective at this. There are no known negative effects of chitosan in a weight loss supplement so it's safe to take. Therm has 125 milligrams.
Gymnema sylvestre
Gymnema sylvestre’s primary use is fighting sugar cravings, which can come in handy when you’re trying to lose weight. It may also keep your body from absorbing too much fat, but more research needs to be done to prove this. Therm has 50 milligrams.
Banaba
Banaba is from a tropical tree primarily grown in the Philippines. It's another traditional medicine ingredient that is supposed to regulate blood sugar after your meals and decrease your production of fat cells. The research is promising, but limited. Therm has 25 milligrams.
Calcium pyruvate
This is my least favorite ingredient in the formula because there is little evidence to suggest that calcium pyruvate will benefit you during exercise. Swolverine cites two print sources that suggest otherwise, but they don’t seem to be accessible online. Therm has 50 milligrams.
Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is another ingredient with traditional roots. I’ve used it before, and I’m sure many of you have too (or at least heard of it). The science is still catching up, but so far studies suggest that ACV can lower oxidative stress on muscles. There are 25 milligrams of ACV in Therm.

Grapefruit powder
Grapefruit powder is a whole food ingredient, and it has shown to improve insulin resistance, which helps your body regulate blood sugar. There are 25 milligrams. Most studies are done with liquid form, so there is no effective dose.
Coleus forskohlii
Coleus forskohlii is a root that grows in southeast Asia. It's another traditional medicine ingredient, but recent studies found that it can increase lean body mass, decrease body fat and reduce appetite. Unfortunately, the effective dose of Coleus forskohlii tends to be around 250 milligrams, which is about 10 times what is in Therm (25 milligrams).
White willow bark powder
White willow bark has been used for thousands of years as an anti-inflammatory and for pain relief, but otherwise there are no known weight loss benefits to this ingredient. There are 25 milligrams in Therm.
Uva ursi
Uva ursi doesn’t have weight loss benefits per se, but it is an anti-toxin that can flush your system and improve kidney and liver function. This could potentially reduce bloating and water weight retention. There are also 25 milligrams of uva ursi in Therm.
Juniper berry powder
Juniper berry is another traditional anti-inflammatory. It's a whole food ingredient, too, which means there are limited side effects unless you have an allergy. Therm has 25 milligrams of this ingredient.
Buchu leaf powder
This is the second ingredient in Therm that has more anti-toxin benefits than weight loss (that I've been able to find, at least). It could potentially help flush your system, and Therm includes 25 milligrams.
Cayenne pepper
Therm only has 10 milligrams of cayenne pepper, but you’ll probably feel the heat. That’s because cayenne pepper contains capsaicin which can help reduce body weight and suppress your appetite to reduce caloric intake.
Other ingredients
The other ingredients in Swolverine Therm are calcium carbonate, vegetable stearic acid, croscarmellose sodium, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, vegetable magnesium stearate, silicone dioxide and peppermint. All of these ingredients seem to be bonding agents that make up the form, shape and taste of the pill. I haven’t found any negatives for them.
Side Effects of Swolverine Therm
The only side effects I experienced from Swolverine Therm were the flushed feeling (which is supposed to happen for thermogenesis) and dehydration (because my thirst was also suppressed with my appetite).
However, most ingredients have low doses, so you aren’t likely to have any negative side effects. Still, I think it's crucial to speak with your doctor before starting this or any other fat burner because there are a lot of ingredients in Therm that could potentially interact with medication or allergies.
Swolverine Therm Cost
Swolverine Therm is $34.99 for 90 servings. Swolverine suggests taking one per day for best results, but the bottle also says you can take up to two per day without experiencing negative side effects. Basically, you’re looking at $0.38 or $0.78 per serving, depending on your usage.
You can also subscribe to a recurring delivery to get 15% off, which will bring your cost down even further.
Who Should Use Swolverine Therm
Swolverine is safe to use for most healthy adults. However, it should be used primarily by people who have worked with a doctor or dietitian to develop a comprehensive weight loss program. This isn’t a magic pill, and you probably won’t see results if you use it alone.
Who Should NOT Use Swolverine Therm
Anyone who is pregnant, breastfeeding or caffeine sensitive should avoid Therm. Since there are a lot of ingredients on the label, I would also suggest skipping Therm if you take multiple medications daily to avoid interactions, at least until you’ve cleared it with your doctor.
What Customers Are Saying About Swolverine Therm
So far, you’ve only heard from me, but here are a couple of themes I’ve noticed in reviews of Therm online:
Energy boost. Several reviewers on Swolverine’s website commented on the energy they had after taking Therm. For me and other reviewers, it was a short-term energy burst, kind of like a pre-workout. In fact, reviewer C.D. said they “use this for a boost before my workout.” C.D. also said it helped them shed the “pesky postpartum 10.”
It works. Swolverine Therm has 4.5/5 stars on the Swolverine website with 19 reviews at the time of writing. Unfortunately there are no reviews on GNC or Amazon to compare to, but almost all of the reviews on Swolverine’s website said that it worked to help users lose weight.
The one negative I found in reviews is that the user felt no difference and saw no difference. Some reviews like this say they stopped taking the pill after a week or so, but others leave no other notes. You’ll have to decide how to interpret those.
About Swolverine
Swolverine is a brand that offers “supplements to help you increase strength, improve endurance, and optimize workout recovery.” This includes protein powders, pre-workouts, fat burners, supplements stacks, multivitamins and more.
I've reviewed a couple of Swolverine products now, and I really appreciate the transparent labeling on all of their products. They stay away from proprietary blends to make sure you know what is in the supplement—even if some ingredients don’t have a ton of science to back up the claims.
The supplements are premium quality, so typically they have a premium price. However, my opinion is that what you put in your body is worth the investment. I know that can get expensive, but it's one reason I'm careful with my supplements. I only take one or two at a time, and Swolverine is on my list of trusted brands.
Swolverine Therm vs. PhenQ
PhenQ is a very popular fat burner and appetite suppressant that I think is fair to compare with Swolverine Therm for a couple of reasons. First, each of these formulas has small doses of most ingredients, and that’s on purpose because they are meant to supplement your weight loss program not replace it. They both also share three major ingredients: cayenne pepper extract, caffeine and chromium.
Where they differ is the key. Therm has far more active ingredients than PhenQ—20 for Therm and only six for PhenQ—and most of them are whole food extracts. Additionally, PhenQ’s main ingredient is ɑ-Lacy’s reset, which is a patented form of alpha-lipoic acid (ALA). ALA can help reduce body fat and BMI significantly. On the other hand, Therm’s approach seems to be more diverse with various extracts that work together.
Swolverine Therm vs. Transparent Labs Recomp
Transparent Labs is another brand that's high on my list of trusted supplement brands because their philosophy is transparency. I want to know what I’m putting in my body, and I’m sure you do too. Transparent Labs has one thermogenic weight loss supplement called Recomp. The key ingredient is ForsLean, a trademarked type of coleus forskohlii (Therm has a generic version). ForsLean has been clinically tested in multiple countries, and the results indicate that it can help you lose fat while maintaining lean muscle.
Swolverine Therm FAQs
Can I take a fat burner before sleep?
Most fat burners have stimulants that will negatively affect your sleep. However, there are some brands that have nighttime formulas that you may be able to take before bed.
How long should you take fat burners for?
Fat burners are supplements, meaning they’re meant to work alongside a balanced diet and regular exercise. If you’ve consulted your doctor, and use them as intended, you are likely safe to take them as long as you need to.
Do fat burners speed up your metabolism?
Most fat burners have multiple ingredients that are called thermogenic. That means they’re supposed to increase your body’s energy production and help you burn more calories. In that sense, yes, fat burners can speed up your metabolism.
How much weight do you lose with fat burners?
Fat burners are supplements, so they're meant to be used alongside a weight loss plan. If you take a fat burner but don’t have a balanced diet and regular exercise program in place, you can expect to see little to no results.
What happens if you take fat burners without working out?
If you take fat burners without working out, you will likely see little to no results. These formulas are designed to help your body burn more energy and calories, but if you're not exercising, then your calories burned will already be low.
Takeaway: Is Swolverine Therm Worth It?
In my opinion, Swolverine Therm is definitely a top-tier fat burner. I have tried a handful of fat burners, and Therm has been my best experience—no adverse side effects, no caffeine headaches when I stop taking them, etc. It gave me a good energy boost and kept my appetite suppressed for several hours. If you’re looking for a fat burner I would recommend Swolverine Therm at the top of the list.
