Richmond (23-8) still secured the top seed in the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament despite losing its final regular season game, but wound up sharing the conference title with Loyola Chicago. On Thursday, the Spiders play their first game in the A-10 tournament at Barclays Center in Brooklyn against No. 9 seed Saint Joseph's (20-12), who won its second-round game on Wednesday. Richmond is looking for its second NCAA tournament bid in three seasons after winning the conference tourney in 2022 while the Hawks haven't gone to the Big Dance since 2016. The Spiders won their first conference title since 2000-01, when they were in what is now the Coastal Athletic Association.

Saint Joseph's opened its second-round game on an 11-2 run and never trailed in a 64-57 victory over No. 8 seed George Mason on Wednesday. Cameron Brown scored 16 points and Rasheer Fleming added 14, including two free throws with 10 seconds left to ice it. Erik Reynolds II gets 16.6 points per game, Xzayvier Brown drops 13.2 points a night and Fleming averages 11.1 points and 7.2 rebounds.
Richmond dropped its regula-season finale 64-46 at George Mason on Saturday. Isaiah Bigelow and Neal Quinn finished with 11 points each in the loss. Jordan King scores 18.5 points per game, Quinn nets 12.4 points per outing and Bigelow averages 11.2 points and 6.3 boards.
The Hawks are 21-12 all-time against the Spiders, who snapped a three-game losing streak in the series with a 73-66 win at home on March 6. Quinn scored 21 points for Richmond while Reynolds and Xzayvier Brown each knocked down 21 points for Saint Joseph's.
