On Saturday night, non-conference volleyball play will continue as No. 4 Stanford hosts Cal State Northridge for the second night in a row. The Matadors are currently 5-4 overall and suffered a four-set loss to the Cardinal last night. Jalen Phillips led the offense for the Matadors with 11 kills and Kyle Hobus finished just behind him with 10 kills. Hobus also led the team with six blocks at the net while Donovan Constable finished the game with 36 assists at setter and held down the backcourt with five digs on the night. Despite strong performances, the Matadors could not compete with the strength of the Stanford offense.

The Cardinal is still undefeated this season at 7-0 to bring their win streak to seven games. Kevin Lamp and Moses Wagner each put down 10 kills to lead the Stanford offense with support from Nathan Lietzke who finished the game with 33 assists. Lamp also led the defensive efforts with nine digs.
The record between the two teams stands at 23-17 in CSUN's favor. When the teams met last season, the Matadors won both games with the first being a five-set victory and the second game resulting in a straight-set win.
