As the weekend gets started on the PGA Tour there are both tournaments in full swing. One of those tournaments is the Puerto Rico Open that gets started with Joe Highsmith up two strokes over the rest of the field. Highsmith finished the second round at -14 overall, two strikes ahead of a pack of six golfers that all look to close that gap today heading into the final round. Highsmith is looking for his first win on the PGA Tour after turning professional just two years ago. So far in his career he has zero wins and zero Top 10 finishes setting the stage for the young professional to potentially earn both at the Puerto Rico Open.

Through 36 holes of gold Highsmith has shot back-to-back rounds of 65 to build his lead. He has 13 birdies, one eagle and just one bogey on his card so far. Another strong round like that today would only help Highsmith's chances to win his first PGA tournament.
Behind Highsmith are a six pack of golfers all just two strokes back at -12 overall through two rounds. That group features Matti Schmid, Kevin Streelman, Rafael Campos, Ryo Hisatsune, Brice Garnett and Erik Barnes.
Schmid, Streelman, Campos and Hisatsune all have rounds of 65 and 67 to keep in contention with Schmid coming off a 65 in the last round to close the gap with the rest of the field. Both Garnett and Barnes have back-to-back rounds of 66 playing as consistent as Highsmith, but just a stroke off his pace.
