Kerry Carpenter drove in three runs with a home run and a double to help power Detroit to a 7-0 win over the New York Yankees on Thursday. Casey Mize worked four shutout innings, striking out four and allowing two hits.
Left-hander Ricky Tiedemann made his delayed first appearance for Toronto on March 9, allowing a run on two hits with two strikeouts in 1.1 innings after dealing with calf and hamstring soreness.
