On Saturday afternoon, Big East tournament play will continue as fourth-seeded Villanova and fifth-seeded Marquette square off at Mohegan Sun Arena. Marquette enters the game with an overall record of 22-7 and an 11-7 record in Big East play. The Golden Eagles won its season finale against Butler in a 74-52 victory on the road. In the victory, Liza Karlen led all scorers with 20 points while Jordan King added 17 points, five rebounds and four assists. Rose Nkumu led the team on the boards along with Claire Kaifes as they both pulled down six rebounds.

Villanova finished the regular season with an overall record of 18-11 and a conference record of 11-7. The Wildcats played an exciting season finale against DePaul and emerged victorious in a narrow 68-66 win at home. The team erased a 14-point deficit in the final eight minutes of the game with offensive efforts led by Lucy Olsen who earned a double-double with 31 points and 10 rebounds. Zanai Jones was the only other Wildcat in double figures and added 16 points. Olsen is 4th in the nation for scoring as she is averaging 23.3 points per game.
This is the third meeting between the two programs this season. The Wildcats have won both of the previous games with the latest being a 55-52 victory.
