On Saturday afternoon, the season will come to a close for either Howard or NC Central/Delaware as the teams meet in the MEAC Tournament Championship. For both teams, a bid to the NCAA tournament is on the line as they both hope to extend their seasons just a little bit longer. Fourth-seeded Howard made it through to the final after upsetting top-seeded Norfolk State on Friday night in an 80-74 victory. Marcus Dockery led the Bison offensively with 19 points, but each of the five starters finished in double figures to make the win possible. Seth Towns pulled down a team-high nine rebounds to go along with 13 points, narrowly missing a double-double.

Delaware State defeated North Carolina Central 71-58 in the second semifinal game on Friday night to earn a spot in the championship game. The Hornets are now 15-17 overall and finished regular season play with a 6-8 conference record. In the semifinal win, the Hornets were led by Deywilk Tavarez who scored 20 points. Wesley Oba pulled down a total of 14 rebounds to lead on the boards and add seven points. On the season, the Hornets finished 6th in the MEAC and Martaz Robinson led the team with 16.2 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game.
The last meeting between the two programs was two weeks ago and resulted in an 85-66 win for Howard.
