The Washington Nationals (6-4) have won their last two games as they head to Port St. Lucie, Florida on Thursday to take on their National League East rivals the New York Mets (5-5) at Clover Park. The Mets were rained out of their scheduled game on Wednesday against the Houston Astros. Utility starter Jeff McNeil is nearing a return to game action after dealing with biceps discomfort. New York wasn't nearly as splashy over the winter, re-signing reliever Adam Ottavino, while adding outfielder Harrison Bader and inking first baseman Ji Man Choi to a minor league deal. The Nationals signed high-risk/high-reward slugger Joey Gallo and brought in journeyman starter Zach Davies.

Luis García Jr. and Victor Robles went back-to-back in a three-run third inning and Dylan Crews cracked a two-run homer in the fourth to propel Washington to a 9-3 victory on Wednesday over the Miami Marlins. Lefty Patrick Corbin allowed two runs on two hits in four innings as he continues to stretch his outings.

The Mets have a 3.13 ERA in Florida through 10 games and have surrendered just three home runs. The bats are a little further behind, as the team is slashing .241/.305/.368 with eight home runs and has struck out 78 times with just 76 hits. Outfielder Trayce Thompson, in camp on a minor league deal, is 5-for-10 with two homers and six RBIs.

New York pushed back Jose Quintana's scheduled start a day after Wednesday's rainout. The veteran lefty gave up two runs on three walks and two hits in his spring debut on Feb. 29. Right-hander Jake Irvin gets his first start in Florida for the Nats after two relief outings. He was lit up for seven runs, six earned, in just 1.2 innings on Friday.
