LoanDepot Park is set to host the exciting mid-week matchup between Nicaragua and Puerto Rico on Thursday to kick off the 2024 Caribbean Series. The tournament will mark the 66th edition of the club baseball competition, set to run from Feb. 1 through Feb. 9. All of the games will be played at the Miami Marlins' LoanDepot Park in South Florida. This edition of the Caribbean Series also marks the first time since the 1991 series that the tournament will be held outside of Latin America, as well as the first time the competition is held at a Major League Baseball ballpark. The series brings together the champions of seven professional baseball leagues: the four full members of the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation (Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela), plus three guests (Curaçao, Nicaragua and Panama).

The tournament format consists of a single round-robin, meaning each team will face each other once. The four teams with the best records will then advance to the semifinals, and so on.
The participating teams this year include Naranjeros de Hermosillo (Mexico), Federales de Chiriquí (Panama), Criollos de Caguas (Puerto Rico), Tigres de Licey (Dominican Republic), Tiburones de La Guaira (Venezuela), Gigantes de Rivas (Nicaragua) and Curaçao Suns.
