The Federales' offense has been led in Miami by catcher Iván Herrera of the St. Louis Cardinals, who shares the series lead with two home runs and eight RBI and has the top on-base percentage (.579), slugging percentage (.875) and OPS (1.484) in the tournament.

Panamá took the lead in the sixth inning on Christian Bethancourt's solo homer and beat the Dominicans 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon to close out the preliminary round. Johnny Santos opened the scoring with a solo shot in the bottom of the second and Johan Camargo added an insurance tally with an RBI single in the eighth . Davis Romero picked up the win with four shutout innings in relief.
Dawel Lugo plated the only run for the Tigres with an RBI single to tie the game in the third inning. Licey outhit Chiriqui 8-7 but left 11 runners on base and was just 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position.
The winner advances to face the winner between fourth-seeded Curaçao and No. 1 seed Venezuela in Friday's championship game. The losers of Thursday's semifinals will face off in the third-place game on Friday afternoon.
