On Thursday night, top-seeded Stanford will begin postseason play with a game against eighth-seeded Cal in the Pac-12 Tournament. The Golden Bears opened tournament play yesterday and advanced to the quarterfinals with a 65-44 win over Washington State. Three Bears finished in double figures, led by Leilani McIntosh who scored 19 points in the win. Ioanna Krimili and Ugonne (Michelle) Onyiah scored 14 and 11 points, respectively. Marta Suárez pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the team on the boards and added six points to the scoreboard. The team finished the game shooting 39.1% from the field and 30.8% from beyond the arc which will need to be improved upon for a chance at a win against powerhouse Stanford.

The Cardinal comes into tournament play with an overall record of 26-4 and a conference record of 15-3. The team finished regular season play on a three-game win streak with the most recent being a big 76-56 win over Oregon. Cameron Brink led the team in scoring with 18 points and Kiki Iriafen finished right behind her with 16 points. Brink also led on the boards with an impressive 17 rebounds to earn a double-double against the Ducks.
The last time Stanford and Cal met resulted in a big 84-49 victory for the Cardinal to complete the sweep over the Bears in regular season play.
