Samford goes for its third straight win on Sunday afternoon when it takes on Furman in the semifinals of the Southern Conference men's basketball Tournament. The Bulldogs reached the semifinals by knocking off Mercer 70-57 in the quarterfinals on Saturday. Rylan James led the team in scoring with 15 points and the Bulldogs took the lead halfway through the first half and never trailed. Sunday they will get a Paladins team that they split two games with during the regular season. The Bulldogs lost on the road 78-68, but evened the season series with a close 74-72 win at home on Feb. 21.

The Paladins' loss to the Bulldogs was the first game of a 2-3 stretch. They lost three of their last four regular season games before sneaking by Western Carolina 79-76 in overtime on Saturday.
The Paladins trailed by as many as nine in the first half, but went into the break tied at 40. The game would go back and forth the whole second half and overtime before Carter Whitt would finally hit the game-winner with 47 seconds left in overtime to give the Paladins the win.
JP Pegues led all scorers with 28 points and was one of three players who scored in double figures for the Paladins in the win.
