The Rams had a relatively easy time in the quarterfinal round, playing to a 73-59 win over UMass on Thursday afternoon to improve to 21-12 on the season. Joe Bamisile finished at the top of the leaderboard for VCU with 18 points, but Zeb Jackson finished right behind him with 17 points on the day. Michael Belle and Toibu "Tobi" Lawal had matching stats with six rebounds each to lead on the boards and seven points each to assist in offensive play.
When these two teams met during regular season play, VCU edged out Saint Jospeh's in an 83-79 win, so Saturday's game is bound to be an exciting one.
