The women's beach volleyball season is underway and on Friday night, No. 19 Arizona will square off against No. 14 Washington at the Sun Devil Beach Volleyball Facility. The Wildcats came into the weekend with a perfect 7-0 record so far this season and prior to their earlier game against Utah, had beaten Pepperdine in a 3-2 victory last weekend. Abby Russell and Olivia McElroy, Kylee Fitzsimmons and Annie Kost and Jess Horwath and Kate Phillips earned the wins for Arizona with Fitzsimmons and Kost finishing in straight sets. The Huskies came into the weekend on a two match losing streak to bring their overall record to 3-5 and their conference record to 1-0.

The team's most recent games ahead of the Pac-12 South tournament resulted in a five-set loss to No. 1 UCLA and a 3-2 loss to No. 9 Long Beach State last weekend. This morning, the team opened up tournament play against Utah which resulted in a 5-0 victory for Washington. Each of the five games ended in straight sets for the Huskies to break a two match losing streak and improve to 2-0 in conference play.
