Big Ten Tournament play will continue on Friday afternoon with the semifinal round as fifth-seeded Ohio State takes on top-seeded Northwestern in the first game of the day. The Buckeyes have now won two in a row, beating Bellarmine 7-0 to close out regular season play and, most recently, Penn State in a narrow 4-3 victory in the quarterfinals. The Nittany Lions struck first with a goal in the 21st minute, but Julie Rodijk scored two minutes later to even the score. Penn State scored again to make it 2-1 at halftime. Brenna Bough tied things up in the 33rd minute before Makenna Webster gave Ohio State its first lead. The Nittany Lions evened the score once more, but Webster netted the game-winner to advance the Buckeyes.

Northwestern will begin tournament play with the semifinal round after receiving a bye in the quarterfinals. The Wildcats come into Friday's game with an overall record of 16-1 and an undefeated conference record of 8-0. The team dropped its first game of the season to No.9 Louisville, but went on to win the next 16 games including a 5-1 win over No. 7 Maryland in the regular season finale. Lindsey Frank, Alia Marshall, Peyton Halsey, Ilse Tromp and Regan Cornelius each netted goals for the Wildcats in the win and Annabel Skubisz made seven saves in net. 

When Northwestern and Ohio State met earlier this season, Northwestern earned a tight 4-3 victory on the road.
