The Cardinal comes into Friday night's dual meet with an overall record of 1-7 and a conference record of 1-3. The team's lone win of the season came against Washington earlier this month, but Stanford has lost two duals in a row with the most recent being a 197.100-196.600 loss to No. 19 Oregon State on Saturday. Anapaula Gutierrez scored a career-best 9.950 on vault to earn the event title and help boost the team to its highest road score of the year. This was the second meet in a row in which Stanford scored above the 49-point threshold on each of the four events.

The Utes are on a seven-meet win streak with the most recent being a 197.300-196.975 win against No. 8 UCLA to bring the team's overall record to 8-3 and their conference record to a perfect 4-0. Makenna Smith scored an event-high of 9.900 on bars. Amelie Morgan scored the high score on the vault for the team with a 9.900. On floor, Grace McCallum finished at the top of the podium with a 9.925. Maile O'Keefe helped to secure the win for the Utes with a 9.975 on beam.
The last time these two teams met dates back to last season and Utah won 197.600-196.725.
