The Tigers made it through to the championship game after beating fifth-seeded West Virginia in a narrow 1-0 victory on Friday. In the 37th minute, Shawn Smart netted just his second goal of the season to give Clemson a 1-0 lead that would stand for the remainder of the game. Joseph Andema made two crucial saves in the semifinal to help keep the net clear as Clemson earned a spot in the title game for the sixth time in program history.

The Fighting Irish will make their second appearance in the national championship following a tight 1-0 win over unseeded Oregon State on Friday. The two teams played a scoreless, back-and-forth first half to take a 0-0 tie into the locker room. Notre Dame came out of halftime energized and Eno Nto scored what ended up being the game-winner just six minutes into the second half. Bryan Dowd stayed strong between the pipes and made four saves to help the team earn its 12th shutout of the year and a spot in the title match.
