Franklin goes after its 3rd straight Texas state championship as it meets Malakoff in the 3A Division I title game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Thursday afternoon.

Franklin (14-1) won the Texas 3A Division II championship in 2021 and followed it up with the Division I title last season. It takes on Malakoff (15-0) on Thursday afternoon at AT&T Stadium in Arlington looking for its third consecutive championship. Malakoff is making just its second appearance in a title game after reaching the final in 2018. The Lions, who finished 5-1 in District 11, won their seventh straight game by blowing out Edna in their Dec. 7 semifinal at Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union Stadium in Cypress. The Tigers had a tougher time of it, scoring the go-ahead touchdown with less than a minute remaining at the Star Ford Center in Frisco on Dec. 7 to beat Brock.
