The Braves, who won a major-league best 104 games last season, fell short in the NLDS for the second consecutive season, losing in four games to the Philadelphia Phillies. In a busy offseason, Atlanta signed right-hander Reynaldo López and acquired lefty Aaron Bummer from the Chicago White Sox to augment the bullpen and picked up young outfielder Jarred Kelenic, a former top prospect of the Seattle Mariners, in another trade and brought in left-hander Chris Sale from the Boston Red Sox to add to the rotation.

The Braves couldn't hold an early 6-2 lead and dropped a 9-8 decision to the New York Yankees on Sunday. Luke Williams hit a two-run homer and Kevin Kilpatrick Jr. was 2-for-2 with a solo homer and a sacrifice fly. Right-hander AJ Smith-Shawver struggled again, allowing four runs on seven hits in three innings, and has an 8.22 ERA in Florida.

Max Kepler hit a two-run homer for Minnesota in its 7-3 loss on Sunday to the Washington Nationals. Pablo López allowed four runs, three earned, in four innings, lowering his spring ERA to 7.00. 

Right-hander Spencer Strider gets his fourth start in Florida for Atlanta on Monday. He has worked nine scoreless innings with 13 strikeouts so far. Right-hander Chris Paddack takes the ball for the Twins. In two previously starts, he's surrendered three runs in 4.2 innings.
