The Phillies had a quiet offseason in terms of new additions, but agreed to contracts with two pillars of their starting rotation. In November, Philadelphia agreed to a seven-year, $172 million deal with right-hander Aaron Nola before inking right-hander Zack Wheeler to a $126 million extension last week that keeps him in Philadelphia through 2027. New York's big splash was trading for All-Star outfielder Juan Soto.

Soto smashed a 447-foot, three-run homer during a five-run fourth inning that lifted the Yankees to a 9-8 victory on Sunday over the Atlanta Braves. DJ LeMahieu got the scoring started in the fourth with a two-run single and Jose Trevino had a solo shot in the fifth.
A two-run error in the top of the ninth helped the Phillies to a 9-7 win on Sunday over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Philadelphia trailed 5-0 before tying the game on Kody Clemens' grand slam in the fourth. Rodolfo Castro gave the Phils the lead with an RBI double in the sixth before Pittsburgh came back to tie things in the bottom of the inning.
Wheeler gets the ball on Monday for the second time this spring. He struck out four and allowed one run in two innings in his first outing. Right-hander Clayton Beeter is in line for New York. In two appearances, one a start, Beeter has allowed two runs with seven strikeouts in five innings of work.
