It just may be the biggest game of the night in the NBA when the Los Angeles Lakers host the Denver Nuggets on Saturday. The Nuggets are trying to sweep the season series against the Lakers after sweeping Los Angeles in the Western Conference Finals last season. But LA is amid a giant homestand and the Lakers are going for their third straight win. LA will be very slight 1.5-point favorites tonight at home. After an amazing comeback against the LA Clippers on Wednesday, the Lakers got a scare against the lowly Washington Wizards on Thursday. LA beat Washington 134-131 in overtime in their last game. It was the Wizards' 13th loss in a row. LA was able to hold off 34 from Jordan Poole largely because Anthony Davis had a tremendous outing going for 40 points with 15 rebounds. LeBron James went all out as well with 31 points in a game that was surprisingly close the whole way through. The biggest thing to come from this game against Denver though is that James will in all likelihood pass 40,000 points. He would be the only player ever to do that in NBA history.

The Nuggets are coming off a close win against the Miami Heat, winning 103-97 on Thursday. It was the first time the Heat and Nuggets faced off since the NBA Finals last season. Michael Porter Jr. stepped up big going for 30 points. He needed to step up after Jamal Murray left the game with a sprained ankle. Murray is listed as a game-time decision for this matchup. Who will step up if Murray is unable to return?
