How to Watch the Chicago Blackhawks Online All Season Long

After choosing to pin their hopes on the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 draft, the Chicago Blackhawks got exactly that. With a young group of players, how will they fair this season?

Much of the success for this year’s team lies in Connor Bedard. A generational talent, the team's awful record allowed them to win the 2023 Draft Lottery and select him as the No. 1 overall pick. While Bedard gives the team hope, it won’t be an overnight solution. They've taken some positive steps, but the Blackhawks will likely struggle yet again this season.

Chicago Blackhawks 2023-24 Season Preview

Chicago was easily the worst offensive team in the NHL last season. The team finished at the bottom of the league in multiple categories, including goals for per 60 minutes, high-danger chances per 60, and scoring chances per 60. This team is in a complete rebuild and looking to bring in pieces that can surround Bedard. In addition to drafting the young phenom, the Blackhawks added Taylor Hall, Nick Foligno, Corey Perry and Ryan Donato. 

Last season the Blackhawks finished with the second-fewest shots on goal per game (27.0) and their power play finished toward the bottom as well, as it only converted at a 16.4 percent rate. That's where Bedard comes in and will make the Blackhawks a fun team to watch. 

Chicago didn't make any moves this offseason to help the team's blue line, so expect similar results outside of the consistency of Seth Jones. The Blackhawks struggled in their defensive zone last season and will likely have the same issues this season given the lack of changes. The Blackhawks finished towards the bottom of the league in high-danger chances against per 60 minutes, goals against per 60, as well as expected goals against per 60. 

Even with all of this being said, the team's weakest spot may be at goaltender. The Blackhawks allowed a total of 301 goals last season, which was tied for the fifth-most in the NFL, and their -97 goal differential was the third-worst. Petr Mrazek saw most of the action, appearing in 38 games and finishing with a 10-22-3 record,

The Avalanche, Blues and Wild are still the favorites for the division this year, but the Blackhawks should be a fun team to watch.
