The Detroit Red Wings and Florida Panthers look to start off March the way they both ended February when they meet Saturday afternoon. Both teams have won four of their last five games opening this new month. The Panthers are going for their fourth win in a row but head out on the road after a three-game homestand. Florida persevered in their last game beating the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 on Thursday in a shootout. The Panthers were down 3-2 late in the third period but Sam Reinhart scored an amazing goal shorthanded to tie the game. Aleksander Barkov scored the first goal of the shootout but Cole Caufield responded right back for Montreal. It didn't matter though because Anton Lundell scored the walk-off goal in the shootout to preserve the win. Florida has the slight edge according to the odds tonight sitting at -155.

The Red Wings are playing some of their best hockey of the season right now but they are coming off a 5-3 loss against the New York Islanders at home on Thursday. The loss ended a six-game winning streak that included three overtime winners. New York scored the first two goals of the game but Detroit bounced right back to tie the game at two just 10 seconds into the third. The game was tied at three until Mathew Barzal got the tie-breaker late in the third which held up as the game-winner. Olli Maatta had a great game though with two goals. This should be a close game against these Atlantic Division rivals.
