Low seed Robert Hight shook up the bracket for Sunday's NHRA All-Star Callout at the NHRA U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway Park in Indianapolis

The NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, the world's biggest drag race, brought back the popular NHRA Funny Car All-Star Callout that debuted in 2022, with the bracket set on Saturday night for Sunday's racing. Ron Capps is the defending champion in the specialty race and the No. 2 seed this year got a surprise when top-seeded Robert Hight picked him for their quarterfinal matchup. The other drivers in the eight-car field include Bob Tasca III, Matt Hagan, John Force, Alexis Dejoria, Cruz Pedregon and Tim Wilkerson. Last year, Hight launched the callouts with another stunner, selecting Tasca. Hight and Capps are each three-time world champions in the Funny Car division.

Tasca selected next and chose all-time NHRA winner Force. Hagan picked Wilkerson for the quarterfinals, leaving Dejoria and Pedregon to square off in the quarterfinals. The nature of the event doesn't stop with the selections on Saturday. The driver with the fastest time in the quarterfinals gets to call out their semifinal opponent.

Capps has won back-to-back championships the last two seasons and is 21 points ahead of Hagan in the standings this year, with nine of the 10 spots in the Countdown already clinched. Pedregon leads Blake Alexander by 100 points for the final berth.

Last week at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Brainerd, Minnesota, Capps clipped Hight in the finals with a 3.887-second run, 0.013 seconds faster than Hight.
