Gareth Taylor could hardly have City in better shape as things stand, boasting the best defensive record in the Super League while also housing the division’s top scorer.
And of course it was Jamaica’s Khadija Shaw who found the decider at Chelsea last month, boosting her Super League tally to 14 in the process, two clear of Blues forward Lauren James.
To put Shaw’s figures into context, she alone has scored three goals more than Everton has mustered as a squad in the Super League so far this season (11).
No player in the Toffees camp has bagged more than three so far this term, with Megan Finnigan and Aurora Galli each tied for that particular honor.
Everton did manage to snap a streak of four league games without a win last time out and beat West Ham 2-0 just a week after hammering Nottingham Forest 7-1 in the FA Cup.
That marked the first time in two months that Brian Sorensen’s side had managed to string together consecutive wins, though three in a row for the first time this season will be a taller order at the Joie Stadium.
That’s due in large part to the fact City has lost just once in its last 23 outings at home (inside the 90 minutes), not to mention coming into this clash on the back of five straight clean sheets.
