The Vikings come into tournament play with an overall record of 17-14 and a conference record of 8-10. The team finished the regular season with a 72-57 win over Idaho last week while celebrating its seniors. KJ Allen was the only player in double figures for the Vikings with a team-high 27 points. He also led on the boards for a double-double alongside Isaiah Johnson as they each finished with 10 rebounds. Johnson narrowly missed a double-double by finishing with nine points in the win.

The Grizzlies come into Monday night's game on a two-game win streak after beating Idaho State 79-65 in the season finale to bring their overall record to 21-10 and their conference record to 12-6. Aanen Moody led the offensive play for Montana with 22 points while three other players finished in double figures, as well. Brandon Whitney and Josh Vazquez each scored 14 points and Dischon Thomas finished the game with 12 points. Laolu Oke pulled down nine rebounds, seven of which were defensive, to lead on the boards for the Grizzlies.
Montana and Portland State met twice during regular season and split the results. Portland State won the first meeting in a 72-46 victory, while Montana won the second in an 82-73 home win.
