Quarterback Bryce Young was one of the most prolific passers in Alabama school history. He won the 2021 Heisman award and was eventually drafted No. 1 overall in the 2023 NFL draft by the Carolina Panthers. He broke the school record for most passing yards in a single game in his first year and helped the Crimson Tide win a national championship in 2020. Now, Nick Saban and Alabama will have to replace him in the 2023 college football season, one that should be exciting for Crimson Tide fans, as the legendary programs returns loads of future NFL talent on both sides of the ball.

Who are the best returning Alabama Crimson Tide football players?

The Alabama defense was stifling all year long, as it almost always is under Saban's leadership and guidance. That will be no different in 2023, as the team returns two projected top-10 NFL draft picks in cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry, the projected top corner in the 2024 draft class, and edge rusher Dallas Turner, a special athlete at the position with some room to grow.

It's on the other side of the ball that Alabama will have at least one major question to answer, as the team must replace Young's otherworldly level of production. The frontrunner as of now seems to be sophomore signal-caller Jalen Milroe, an electrifying athlete out of Texas, a former four-star recruit and a player who can make splash plays with his arm and legs. Also still in the running are former five-star recruit Ty Simpson, still a freshman after taking a redshirt, and transfer quarterback Tyler Buchner, who spent his first two seasons at Notre Dame with new Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Tommy Rees.

Whoever does win the job will at least have good protection, as projected top-15 pick JC Latham will be protecting his blindside at left tackle, as well as great weapons to throw to, such as wide receiver Ja'Corey Brooks, who enters 2023 with 39 catches for 674 yards and eight touchdowns in his career.
